Feeling a little uninspired when it comes to your breakfast choices lately? Then this, my friend, is the perfect article for you. You probably have seen an overnight oats recipe on your social media newsfeed without even realizing it. This beautifully delicious breakfast not only satisfies your taste buds, but they’re gorgeously photogenic, as well. Always a bonus when you’re planning your meals, right? 😉
For those of you who may be unfamiliar, here are the basics:
What are Overnight Oats?
Overnight Oats are essentially the new avocado toast. Meaning: they’re super trendy and pretty good for you, too (mostly). Basically they’re a no-cook way of making oatmeal. Instead of cooking oats on the stove (or throwing that instant microwave pack in for 60 seconds) you mix rolled oats with liquid and other ingredients, and let it sit in the fridge overnight. The next morning, you have a sweet, tasty, pudding-like breakfast just waiting to be devoured.
Do You Eat Overnight Oats Warm or Cold?
Totally up to you! They’re designed to be eaten cold; straight from the fridge as an easy grab and go breakfast, but if you prefer to warm them up, that’s fine too! Just pop them in the microwave for about a minute and you should be good to go.
Do You Cook the Oats or Add Them Raw?
You don’t cook the oats first! You’ll mix the rolled oats with a liquid and other ingredients (since every recipe is different then these options can really be endless), and put in the fridge.
Are Overnight Oats Healthy?
They can be! But just like anything, it’s easy to make them unhealthy, too. Since you can pretty much add any ingredient to overnight oats that you want, the ball is in your court. The recipes in this article we consider to be pretty healthy, though! There are even a few recipes for high protein overnight oats, for those who are trying to hit their daily protein macro goal.
